On Wednesday 28th February 2018 the children, parents and staff of Marlborough Primary School celebrated the official opening of our new outdoor areas with some very special members of our school community.
Ann Groves, ex- Harrow Councillor who also served as a member of Marlborough Primary School's governing body for over 45 years did the honours of cutting the ribbon.
During the morning children, staff and our wider school community listened to short presentations from Her Worshipful Deputy Mayoress, Councillor Kareema Marikar, Harrow MP, Gareth Thomas and Divisional Director of Educaton, Paddy O'Dwyer. Each guest paid tribute to Ann Groves before inspiring the children with ideas they can take to make the most of our new outdoor learning environment.
Local faith leaders Reverend Mark Mahoney and Rabbi Catherine Middleton each said a short blessing before children joined in singing with the choir.
Before the final cutting of the ribbon, everyone watched in glee as Year 1 released balloons. The sun came out for us despite the snowy weather!
Special thanks was given to John, Henry and Richard who worked through all weathers to turn our dreams into a reality as well as our FANTASTIC friends of Marlborough who work tirelessly to raise additional funds to develop the school and aid curriculum development.
We thank everyone who was able to join us during this morning and celebrate the creation of a new space which further extends curriculum learning and heightens the wellbeing of pupils. A special mention also to Mr Byford and Mrs Hamadouche for capturing images of the day for us all to treasure.
