On Sunday 22nd April, Miss Gold - Year 6 Dickens Class Teacher and English Leader will be running The London Marathon along with her father. They will be running 26.2 miles along with many thousands of other runners, all with the same ambition – to make it to the finish line and raise much needed money for charity. This is one of the biggest charity events of the year!
They will be raising money for a charity called Phab Kids. This charity’s sole purpose is to inspire, encourage and support children and young adults with disabilities and complex needs to make the most of their lives. Most of the children and young people have physical, sensory or learning disabilities including Cerebral Palsy, Muscular Dystrophy, visual and Hearing impairments, Epilepsy, Downs Syndrome, ADHD, Arthritis and Autism.
The projects organised by Phab Kids enable children and young people, together with their able-bodied friends, to enjoy amazing and unforgettable weeks by taking part in exciting outdoor activities as part of a close-knit and carefully supported team
In order to raise money for this incredible charity, Marlborough Primary School held a ‘Fun Run’ on Friday 20th April. Pupils were able to come into school in their own clothes – the crazier the better! We then all have a chance to run a mile. We had plenty of fun whilst running this – running backwards, hopping, skipping, space hoppers, dancing and much more!
Check out some of the amazing photos from the Fun Run at the link below!!
Children have been requested to bring in a small donation of £1 to go towards this charity. Please give this money to your class teacher on the morning.
Please visit Miss Gold's Virgin Money Giving page to read more of our story and to make a donation no matter the amount.
